Sound Wave 230 with My Digital Enemy & Martin Garrix
Falkon has a guest mix from My Digital Enemy & Martin Garrix.
Martin Garrix may not be a superhero or a secret agent, but he does possess two identities.
A 17-year-old student by day, but when the sun goes down he can be found behind the decks in front of packed hotspots and festivals across the globe, fraternizing with electronic dance music royalty, tirelessly producing in the studio, and dropping records.
You probably know him for his monster hit ‘Animals’, that reached the #1 position in several countries worldwide including Holland, Belgium and England, as well as Top 5 in Australia, France, Spain, and Germany.Following up the success of "Animals", his remix of Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike and Sander van Doorn’s "Project T" got supported by the biggest DJs around, after which his track ‘Wizard’ with Jay Hardway ascended #1 on Beatport, making it the youngest artists ever to reach the top spot on Beatport.com’s Main Chart.
“I want to show everyone that if you pursue your dreams, they can come true no matter what.
That's what I want to do."Martin Garrix may just be a superhero after all.
'My Digital Enemy' has become a phrase that is immediately associated with cutting edge House music. The duo consists of Serg & Kieron who have been working together on various projects for more than ten years. They have had commercial success with two tracks entering the UK Charts one of which reached the number 3 spot in 2005. This has lead to them being regularly asked to remix the worlds biggest artists including Snoop Dogg, Beyonce, Ke$ha, Britney Spears, Usher, Lady Gaga & Groove Armada.
My Digital Enemy have already had a great start to 2014 with Pete Tong & Danny Howard both supporting their new track 'Shamen' on their respective BBC Radio One shows.
In 2013 they managed to notch up an impressive five Beatport House top ten tracks. Three of those in the top three spot. Their original track 'Wrong' hit number one and stayed up there for six weeks. Their remix of Crazibiza 'My Lips' went on to be the sixth top selling house track on Beatport for the whole of year!
2012 was no different with massive chart success for their remix of ‘Alter Ego - Rocker’ which was #1 on both The DMC Buzz Chart & The Beatport Tech House chart.
The guys label Zulu Records was also skyrocketed to the forefront of the house scene with the success of their collaboration with Jason Chance ”Got To Be Strong” which held firm for 8 weeks at #2 on the Beatport House chart. They seem to have hit a winning formula which has gained support from industry heavy weights Fedde Le Grand, Fatboy Slim, Chuckie, Roger Sanchez, Steve Angello, Bob Sinclar, Mark Knight, Cedric Gervais, Axwell, AN21, Max Vangeli and a whole host of other leading EDM stars.
My Digital Enemy's productions are highly in demand and as well as releasing them on Zulu Records they have also released tracks on Toolroom, Stealth, Spinnin, Great Stuff, Hotfingers, Skint, the list goes on.....Afrojack picked up 'African Drop' for his label Wall Recordings. This was one of 2012's biggest tracks with support from the likes of Tiesto, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Knife Party, Porter Robinson, Tommy Trash, The Bingo Players, Fedde Le Grand, BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard, Hardwell… . If you can call upon a large proportion of DJ Mag’s Top 100 list as your advocates, I think you can safely say you’re not doing too badly.
The My Digital Enemy guys thrive on club atmosphere and put everything into their performances. It's not surprising that in 2013 they deejayed in Japan, Russia, Canada, Indonesia, Barbados and of course the UK & Europe.
Gig highlights include sell out nights at the globally famous Gatecrasher Birmingham alongside Afrojack, the previously voted #1 club in the world Sankeys joined by John Dahlback & New Years Eve 2014 for Ministry Of Sound in Set Club, Edmunton, Canada.. They also have a residency for one of the biggest and longest running brands in clubland; The Gallery at Ministry of Sound
....And what next for My Digital Enemy? The guys have secured bookings well into 2014 and just two weeks into the year have already hit the Beatport top ten, with the latest track on their groundbreaking label 'Zulu Records'. If this is anything to go by 2014 is going to be a busy year.
